Dynamic action, masculine principle. hypatia238Great question, the arrow is a symbol of action, motion, moving forward and direction is how I see it.Eternal EnergyHermes (Mercury the Roman equivalent) is the most known god in ancient Greece for his erect phallus. Pan is also very known for his erect phallus. Priapus too. And of course in Dionysian cult, phallus is more than prominent, though it's never Dionysus' phallus. Ares is of course the god of war, though if one wants to feel closer to his true nature, then it is more proper to say that Ares is the spirit of the fighter in the war. He was not very much worshipped in ancient Greece, except of course in Sparta and in Thrace. He represents violence and bloodthirst. Athenians worship his sister. Pallas Athena represents the disciplined and strategic side of war, and most of all the protection of the city. The Roman equivalent of Ares is Mars and yes the military Roman society worships him. Maybe more than any other god. Romans believed that they were descended of Mars and they would gather at the temple of Mars Ultor = Mars the Avenger, in the Forum of Augustus in Rome, before a battle. Mars is powerful in ancient Rome. The god of war here is depicted with the symbols you all know... hypatia238I mean I suppose bc is shooting up is erect but the tip is shaped to make it look like an arrow not the head of a penis which I feel really fits more so than a penis since mars is not only about sex and reproduction but about motion, drive, motivation, direction, ambition, action and even war, you want the arrow shooting up ready to go about to fly off. But if mars and venus are just symbols of gender then I suppose the arrow is a penis, seems more narrow minded.Belage quote:Originally posted by Eternal Energy:Hermes (Mercury the Roman equivalent) is the most known god in ancient Greece for his erect phallus. Aries EagleThanks everyone special thanks to Mirage I saw the detailed valuable post before editing but didn't reply in time .. sorry but I got the concept of the ancient symbol and new symbol so thanks. 🌼I like this interpretation"An arrow represents our drive, an action or direction. It is pointing high, from the circle denoting spirit. The combination of the two corresponds with the nature of the planet in the astrological sense. We can easily deduct it stands for our active, passionate nature that needs to follow the mission our spirit needs to fulfill."https://www.astrology-zodiac-signs.com/symbols/aries/hypatia238 quote:Originally posted by Aries Eagle:Thanks everyone special thanks to Mirage I saw the detailed valuable post before editing but didn't reply in time .. sorry but I got the concept of the ancient symbol and new symbol so thanks. 🌼I like this interpretation"An arrow represents our drive, an action or direction. I felt a more intuitive understanding to the symbol of mars. Taurus is grounding, pisces can be about sacrifice, I see those two signs I suppose in the symbol. When you enter a relationship sacrifice will be part of it if you want the relationship to survive and thrive.Sacrifice is surrender and falling in love is an act of surrender.
